In pursuance to the notification issued, the polling in General Election to 48 Zilla Panchayat Constituencies was held today on 12-12-2020. These elections are being contested on party lines.
This has been the first instance of Polling during pandemic of Covid- I 9. Commission is glad that the polling in all 48 ZP Constituencies have been held successfully in well organized and peaceful manner in all 1187 polling booths set-up across the State. The total voters registered and entitled to cast their votes were 7,91,814 comprising of 3,85,222 Male voters and 4,06,592 Female voters. A total of 2,27,916 Male voters and 2.21,972 Female voters exercised their right to vote making a total of 4,49,888. As such the total percentage of votes polled have been 58.43% in North Goa and 55.00% in South Goa. ie. 56.82% in the State.
Altogether, 31 Covid-19 positive voters carted their votes by taking all precautions in PPE kits. Amongst these, 15 were in North Goa and 16 in South Goa Zilla Panchayats. The counting of votes are scheduled to be held on 14th December 2020 (Monday) from 8.00 a.m. onwards at 15 notified counting centres. There are 06 counting centres in North Goa and 09 counting centres in South Goa ZP Constituencies.
