PANAJI: St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar has skipped the meeting convened by the Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) leadership on Monday, citing prior political engagements outside Goa that allegedly overlapped with the scheduled meeting window.
In a communication addressed to party office bearers, Borkar acknowledged receiving the message asking him to remain present between 3 pm and 6 pm, but stated that certain movements and discussions already fixed beyond Goa “cannot be casually displaced at this stage.”
The MLA remarked that “political time and clock time are often different things,” while indicating that attending the meeting within an “imposed frame” would do injustice to the seriousness of the interaction. He suggested that a suitable time for discussions could instead be mutually decided after completion of his ongoing engagements.
Borkar further stated that he remains available to the party structure “with full respect, commitment and clarity of intent,” adding that his office would coordinate the next suitable meeting shortly.
The development comes after RGP office bearers had publicly announced an official meeting with Borkar at the party head office in Panaji amid ongoing political speculation surrounding the MLA and the party leadership.
