Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which has been in the forefront fighting for rights of teachers to work from home has questioned the government’s arbitrary decision of forcing teachers to attend schools and colleges despite government of India’s orders to the contrary.
AAP Convener Elvis Gomes who has drawn the attention of the ministry of Home affairs as well as ministry of Human Resource Development through email as well as social media said that either the CM who is also the education minister was acting adamant or was looking to save face and wriggle out of the situation.
“There are reports that the government has directed teachers and staff of government college Khandola not to report to college for two days under the pretext of sanitisation of the college . We are asking the government to spell out its policy on sanitisation. Or is it singling out Khandola college due to suspicion of someone having become infected?.
“The government must answer as the teachers, their families and those of the students want to know” said Gomes demanding that the State government should immediately follow the SOP issued by MHA and the MOHRD and allow teachers to work from home.
