PANAJI: It is now loud and clear that there is a scam of Rs.22.50 crores in procurement of Ivermectin tablets. The complete silence of both the Chief Minister and Health Minister substantiates our claim that BJP is making “Business from Sickness”. Goa is used as “Testing Laboratory” & Goans as “Guinea Pigs” by BJP to make fortunes in Covid pandemic, charged Goa Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary Amarnath Panjikar.
Panjikar said that the BJP Government in Goa is using Goa as Testing Laboratory for their greed of making money from Covid pandemic.
“Last year they distributed some tablets in the entire State, claiming that consumption of those tablets will give complete immunity from Covid. The devastation caused by the second wave now has proved that the propoganda of BJP was a PR excercise to promote Jumlas and make money,” stated Amarnath Panjikar.
He continued, this time the Health Minister came out with a new Jumla of Prophylaxis treatment and had made a statement five days back that Ivermectin tablets will be made available in all health centres for those above 18 years as preventive treatment for Covid.
“Incidentally, on the same day World Health Organisation issued a statement clearly stating that the tablets can be taken only on clinical trials,” stated Amarnath Panjikar.
Panjikar says that today, Prof. Dr. Faheem Younus who is Chief of Infectious Disease in University of Maryland has termed the act of the Health Minister Vishwajit Rane as “Intellectual Error”. This “Error” of the corrupt health minister will turn into a “Horror” in Goa, stated Amarnath Panjikar.
“Goa wants to know Who recommended the use of Ivermectin 12 mg tablets to Health Minister Vishwajit Rane as Prophylaxis Treatment to Goans? Was approval obtained from Prime Ministers Office, Union Health Ministry? Is the treatment approved by World Health Organisation? Has Indian Council of Medical Reserach given its clearance? Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant must clarify immediately,” demanded Amarnath Panjikar.
“Whether any tender was floated to procure these tablets? How many bids received? Who was given the contract to supply the tablets? Is this treatment given anywhere else in India or World? BJP Government must put all facts in public domain. We will wait for one more day and if the government fails to respond, Congress Party will appeal to Goans not to take the tablets which may harm their health,” warned Amarnath Panjikar .
“We are convinced that these new jumla campaigns of immunity building, preventive treatments are launched by BJP with an intention of making money, he said.
He said the Congress Party always believes in Scientific solutions to any issue. There has to be strong scientific backing for any treatment.
“I appeal to Goans not to fall prey for the announcements of the Health Minister and BJP functionaries. Let the Government place in public domain the scientific evidence and approvals from authorised institutions for any Covid treatment, only then Goan’s should come forward and take it,” he said.
