PANAJI: Priol MLA Govind Gaude today said that he will urge Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to withdraw police cases filed on student Pooja Melekar in the IIT Shel-Melauli issue.
“I think the police cases can create a damp on her career and I will Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to withdraw police cases filed on student Pooja Melekar,” said Gaude
Pooja Melekar from Shel-Melauli, who protested against the IIT project, secured the highest marks in the Analytical Chemistry subject in Ravi S Naik College Ponda.
Earlier, Vishwajit Rane too had demanded with the Chief Minister to take back all cases registered and also demanded that action should be taken against Police officers who assaulted women in Shel Melauli.
It can be recalled that the land demarcation attempt of officials at the IIT project site at Melaulim was disrupted by the villagers after which police resorted to the lathi charge in an attempt to diffuse the villagers’ protest.
