PANAJI: Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane today said that the Forest Department will take strict action against violators of the Preservation of Trees Act.
Rane also said that directions are also issued to TCP officials to crack down on the cases of illegal landfilling.
“Forest Department will take strict action against violators of the Preservation of Trees Act. Directions are also issued to TCP officials to crack down on the cases of illegal landfilling,” said Rane.
He further said that many people obtain permissions from DCF North and DCF South, and then they completely engage in the violations of the granted permissions.
“Such individuals will face harsh consequences, and a formal complaint will be made. PCCF has received instructions. The Department of Forests will punish offenders severely. Reversing any decision is out of the question,” he added.
Additionally, Minister Rane said that the government has been made aware of multiple instances of landfilling; in these cases, we will file a formal complaint and take strong enforcement measures against the violators.
Rane also said that TCP and Forest departments will take strict measures after receiving a complaint about illegal plotting in Mencurem on the basis of a complaint filed by MLA Chandrakant Shetye.
“The TCP Act’s plotting requirements must be adhered to in full. If they are broken, a formal complaint will be filed, and legal action will be taken as per the law,” he said
The minister also said that no one should take on the adventure of unlawful land plotting. The government will not stand for this and will take appropriate action. The two departments will act in tandem.
