PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that no permission would be granted for new English Schools.
Sawant was reacting to a letter written by Konkani Bhasha Mandal opposing to government granting permissions for new English Medium Schools.
“We don’t give permission to new primary schools in English medium, If they take permission for Konkani medium school and teach in English, we will have to take action on such schools also,” said Sawant.
He further said that action will be taken on schools taking permission for Konkani schools but teaching English Language.
Konkani Bhasha Mandal(KBM) had written to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant who is also the Education Minister of the state, urging him to refrain from giving permission to English Medium Primary schools in Goa.
Pointing out that attempts are being made to start new English medium primary schools, the socio-cultural institution has asserted in the letter that such attempts can be detrimental to the education system in Goa and hence will not be tolerated.
