PANAJI: Stating that many people need help and are suffering due to disaster, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has urged the youth to shoulder responsibility and extend their helping hand during the trying times.
Dr. Sawant was speaking at a felicitation function organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sanghatan Goa to commemorate the occasion of Guru Purnima at Institute Menezes Hall in the city today.
Dr. Sawant speaking further, said youth have an important role to play in building society. In this regard, Nehru Yuva Kendra is doing yeomen service by educating youth about their responsibility towards society and nation.
“Those youth who have received personality development education and have understood their role in society should discharge their duties in the social field. Here is an area where Nehru Yuva Kendra is doing a spectacular job,” he said.
He appreciated all the felicitates for their excellent work and achievement.
Speaker Social Welfare Zilla Parishad Maharashtra Shri Ankush Jadhav spoke about the importance of Nehru Yuva Kendra for the overall development of youth.
He said the teacher has importance in our life. We cannot acquire proper guidance without a teacher.
Kalidas Ghatwal, in his welcome address, said NYK strives to conduct movement for the overall development of youth. Those who were attached to NYK during a young age are working in different fields of human welfare. The youth who are affiliated with NYK have acquired personal development and emerged as responsible citizens.
Those who felicitated at the hands of Chief Minister were Dr. Sarvanand Sawant Desai for achieving a Ph.D. In Social work. Mr Gunaji Mandrekar for his countless social work towards the Society and earning National Youth Award, Dr. Pankaj Sainekar for creating a new world record by completing 3730 Surya Namaskar sets/ marathon in 24 hours- sunrise to sunrise on 7th international Day of Yoga on 21st June 2021, Tanvesh Vengurlekar for representing as Technical Official ( National Referee) at 68th Senior National Kabaddi Championship held at Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh in April 2021, Mrs Prerana Palekar, for achieving second place ( Kathak Dance ) at National Youth Festival 2021, while Aditya Bottarkar and Rahul Gaonkar for being selected as best volunteers for the year 2020-21 ( North Goa.
Charudatt Gawas, Harmonium artist, played Rag Des on Harmonium. After that Kathak dance artist, Mrs. Prerana Palekar performed kathak dance.
