BICHOLIM: The Energy4Good Technology Centre, a ₹1.10 crore industry-supported facility aimed at strengthening practical skills and employability among students, was inaugurated at Government Polytechnic Bicholim on Tuesday.
Established by Siemens Energy India Limited under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, the centre is the first of its kind at a government polytechnic in Goa. It seeks to bridge the gap between technical education and industry requirements by providing students with practical training and industry-relevant competencies.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant said the facility would help address skill gaps among students, strengthen industry-academia collaboration and improve their access to employment and better career opportunities.
He appreciated Siemens Energy India Limited for investing in the potential of Goa’s youth and supporting the state’s efforts to develop a skilled workforce. Emphasising the importance of practical knowledge and industry-oriented training, he said initiatives of this nature would contribute to the vision of Viksit Goa 2037 and Viksit Bharat 2047.
The centre is expected to provide students with opportunities to gain hands-on experience and develop skills aligned with the evolving needs of the workplace. The initiative underscores the role of industry partnerships in making technical education more relevant to current employment demands.
The inauguration was attended by Bhushan Savoikar, Director of the Directorate of Technical Education; Pramodini Naik of Government Polytechnic Bicholim; Beena Dixit, Vice President – CSR, Siemens Energy India Limited; and other dignitaries.
