PANAJI: Head of Paediatric department (GMC) Dr Mimi Silveira today said that they were expecting around 1 to 2 percent of critical COVID-19 cases during the possible third wave.
Dr Silveira also said Goa has witnessed 16,246 cases in the age group of 0-17 since Mid of May.
Addressing the media, Dr Mimi said that they were expecting around 1 to 2 percent of critical COVID-19 cases during the possible third wave.
“As a precaution, we at Goa Medical College (GMC) has identified 30 ICU beds GMC, NICU. Also it has been decided that all crictical cases will be dealt at GMC and mild to moderate cases will be treated at other district hospitals,” said Dr Silveira
She further informed Goa has witnessed 16,246 cases in the age group of 0-17 since Mid of May our of which only 150 had to be admitted.
Goa Medical College (GMC) Dean Dr Shivanand Bandekar said that till now Goa has 10 active cases of Black Fungus of which one died, 6 patients have received treatment and remaining three are yet to be treated.
Dr Jagdish Cacodkar said that people are still not coming forward for COVID-19 vaccination across the state.
“60 % of population in Goa will have to be vaccinated in order to attain herd immunity; all vaccines has side effects,” said Dr Cacodkar
Meanwhile, Goa today reported 1401 new COVID positive cases. While there were 2421 recoveries & 38 deaths today.
