PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that 159 complaints pertaining to online/harassment, hacking of social media accounts, and bullying have been registered with Cyber Cell from 2019 to June 30, 2023.
As per information, CM said that there were 14 complaints in 2019, 32 in 2020, 27 in 2021, 65 in 2022 and 21 from January 2023 to June 2023.
He further said that in addition to Cyber Crime Police Station, all other Police Stations in Goa are well-equipped to investigate Cyber fraud cases. Further, if the need arises, the case is transferred to Cyber Crime Police Station.
The CM said that cybercrime cases from all police stations are being transferred to the cyber crime cell and that complainants need not file the case at the cell only.
The Goa government is set to formulate a policy to ban online gambling advertisements and remove all hoardings promoting such activities, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced on Wednesday.
In response to legislative demands for action against the rampant online gambling in the state, Sawant confirmed that all hoardings promoting online gambling and betting have already been taken down.
He stated that 44 cases related to online gambling have been registered since 2019. Sawant refrained from disclosing further details or sharing copies of FIRs and chargesheets to preserve ongoing investigations.
