PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said that a total of 170 lakes would be taken up for rejuvenation and conservation.
Sawant said that the water resources department would take up the rejuvenation of the lakes. He said that 85 lakes in each district are identified for rejuvenation.
On the 76th Independence Day, WRD had hoisted a tricolour on the bank of 22 lakes, which were identified for conservation.
“Our focus is to promote natural farming and a total of 170 lakes to be taken up for rejuvenation and conservation through WRD,” CM.
He further said that food security and sustainable food system, sustainable farming system, degradation of food-producing agriculture soil, natural and organic farming practices and other concerned areas would collaborate with Isha Outreach.
Sawant said that the Government of Goa and Govt of India have been implementing various initiatives for enriching and maintaining the health of the soil.
“From next year, the government would be felicitating farmers who turn to organic farming by giving up the use of chemical fertilisers,” he added.
Meanwhile, CM said that they have already started issuing soil health cards to farmers under the Swayampurna Goa programme.
