CURCHOREM: An 18-year-old youth lost his life in a tragic road accident near Ravindra Bhavan, Curchorem, in the early hours of April 19.
According to police, information was received from GMC Bambolim at around 9.00 am stating that Jesval Diniz, a resident of Sanvordem, had been brought dead after being referred from Hospicio Hospital, Margao.
Enquiry revealed that the accident occurred at approximately 5.30 am after a PCR call alerted Margao police about the incident. Further investigation by Curchorem Police indicated that the deceased, who was riding a scooter from Ambedkar Circle towards Shivaji Chowk, allegedly entered the wrong side of the road and collided head-on with an oncoming TATA truck.
Due to the impact, the scooter got lodged under the truck’s front right wheel and was dragged, causing grievous injuries to the rider. He was initially shifted to CHC Cacora, then referred to the District Hospital, Margao, and later to GMC Bambolim, where doctors declared him brought dead.
An inquest was conducted, and the post-mortem examination attributed the cause of death to hemorrhagic shock resulting from pelvic injuries and a coccyx fracture caused by blunt force impact.
The body was later handed over to the family for final rites. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Bharat Kharat of Curchorem Police Station.
