PORVORIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today informed that around 19,000 health workers across Goa both in governemnt and private hospitals to be administered with COVID-19 vaccine in the first phase of vaccination.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting today with Chief Ministers on the rollout, which begins across the country on Saturday. This was PM Modi’s first meeting with the Chief Ministers after two vaccines – Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin and Pune based-Serum Institute of India’s Covishield – were cleared for emergency use by the drug regulator DCGI last week.
“19,000 health workers across Goa both in governemnt and private hospitals to be administered with COVID-19 vaccine in the first phase of vaccination. 800 doses will be given on day 1 which makes it 100 per centre,” informed CM Sawant after VC meeting with PM Modi
He said, “8 hospitals in Goa have been notified in Goa whihc includes governemnt as well as private,”
CM further informed that Goa would be receiving Covaxin and Covishield vaccines. “As of now how many doses will be allotted to Goa is not clear,” he said
Sawant also informed that the cold chain facility for COVID-19 vaccine is completely operational up to primary healthcare Centre in the state.
“We have completed the dry run for COVID-19 vaccine at four sites in Goa. We are fully prepared with cold chain management system both in government departments and private sector. The cold chain management system is fully operational up to Primary Healthcare Centre level,” Sawant added
