PONDA: Due to their recklessness and negligence while on duty, three police officers, including two Robot employees from the Ponda police station, were suspended.
Superintendent of Police (South) Sunita Sawant has suspended the police officers in relation to the unexplained death of a Ponda resident, age 32.
Head constable Ravindra P. Naik, police constable Ashwin V. Sawant, and driver police constable Pritesh M. Prabhu are the three police officers who have been suspended.
It can be recalled that on June 25, at around 1.45 am, the Maina Curtorim police discovered a body laying next to a road in the Loutolim area.
Police had filed a hit-and-run case after conducting a primary investigation, and the body was sent for an autopsy.
Eventually, with the assistance of the Ponda police, the deceased was identified as Kanhaiya Mandal, a Bihar native and resident of Warkhande, Ponda. In addition, the postmortem report showed that the deceased had a cut on his neck from a sharp object, which raised the possibility of a murderous wound.
