MERCES: A 34-year-old maid from Karnataka who lives in Candolim has been arrested by Old Goa Police on suspicion of stealing gold ornaments valued at Rs 5 lakh from a Mestabhat-Merces apartment.
Sidney Mesir reported the incident to the police, stating that it occurred shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Kashibai Nayak, 34, the accused, was employed as a maid in the apartment.
The maid is accused of opening the cabinet and taking Rs 5 lakh worth of jewelry.
Later in the evening, this incidence was discovered.
In response to the police report, Old Goa police took the accused Candolim maid into custody and retrieved the jewelry that had been stolen. Police Sub-Inspector Jasvita Naik is doing additional inquiry.
