SIOLIM: A 35-year-old man died after allegedly sustaining a self-inflicted stab injury at River Inn, Siolim, on Friday morning.
According to police, at around 10.30 am, the Police Control Room (PCR), Panaji, received information that a person had caused injuries to himself with a knife at River Inn, Siolim. He was subsequently shifted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Siolim.
Robot 18 staff later informed police that the man had been declared dead. Upon visiting the PHC, the deceased was identified as Rohit Pravin Jalgaonkar, 35, a native of Pune and presently residing in Siolim, Bardez, Goa.
Police observed one stab injury on the right side of his abdomen.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that Jalgaonkar had been staying in Siolim with his fiancée, Bukke Harika Rathos, 34, a native of Hyderabad, since August 2025.
Police said the couple had reportedly been involved in arguments since August 27 over allegations concerning Jalgaonkar’s alleged relationship with another woman.
According to the preliminary information, an argument also took place between the two on Friday morning, during which Jalgaonkar allegedly inflicted the injury on himself with a knife.
Further inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.
