MORMUGAO: A 45-year-old man from Sindhudurg, identified as Laxman Raut, who was admitted to Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, following a self-motor vehicle accident, passed away while undergoing treatment.
Mormugao Police were alerted by the Casualty Police at GMC regarding the incident. Upon receiving the information, police visited GMC and conducted an inquest panchanama over the deceased’s body. The body was later subjected to a post-mortem examination.
According to the police surgeon’s report, the cause of death was attributed to “craniocerebral damage consequent to blunt force impact by surface and/or object.” After the autopsy, the body was handed over to the family for final rites as per religious customs.
Mormugao Police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is being carried out by PSI Yeshwant Raikar of Mormugao Police Station under the supervision of PI Sherif Jacques and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
