PANAJI: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane informed that only 53 Percent of Goa’s population is so far covered with the booster dose (COVID-19 vaccine).
“The state government has urged the Centre to send booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.53 per cent of the population is so far covered with the (booster) dose,” said Rane.
He further said that people should not panic but adopt COVID-appropriate behaviour in their day-to-day life.
“The Centre has asked to put in place the required infrastructure by December 27, and random testing will also be done on passengers arriving on international flights,” he added.
During the VC meeting, Rane said Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandviya highlighted the rising new Omicron sub-variant and protocols to be followed to ensure timely detection and management in case of a surge in cases.
“Review meeting with all the doctors & health officials will be taken to ensure everything is in place to tackle the virus,” Rane said.
The minister said that Goa is a tourist state, and all measures to build our surveillance system as per the guidelines of MoHFW will be taken to ensure timely detection.
