OLD GOA: A 71-year-old scooter rider sustained injuries after a Swift car allegedly driven in a rash and negligent manner collided with his Yamaha Fascino near Merces Circle on September 13.
According to Old Goa Police, the incident occurred at around 5.54 pm when accused driver Praveen Naik was proceeding from Panaji towards Bambolim in a Swift car bearing registration number GA-04/E-1040.
Police said the car allegedly dashed against a Yamaha Fascino scooter bearing registration number GA-03/AJ-8929 while approaching Merces Circle. The scooter rider, identified as Ariun Salgaonkar, aged 71, sustained injuries and is presently undergoing medical treatment at Galaxy Hospital, Mapusa.
Old Goa Police have registered Crime No. 118/2026 under Sections 281 and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The investigation is being conducted by Head Constable 6972 Rajan Zalm.
