PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said that 92 government primary schools have been closed across the state while 742 schools are in operation.
“As on date total 742 Govt. Primary Schools are in operation and 92 numbers of Schools are closed in the State of Goa. Total 92 numbers of Govt. Primary Schools are closed for last 5 years due to less enrolment.” said CM Sawant
He further said that total 407 Government Schools are repaired by Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited for the last 5 years.
“144 Government Schools which are yet to be repaired (ongoing) are given in Annexure-III. The Schools are taken up in phases and as per the request and priority based on strength of the students, urgency of repairs and condition of schools, from the Directorate of Education. And as such the delay in completing of the repairs of all schools does not arise,” he added
CM Sawant further said that Podar International School at , Penelim Panaji in Tiswadi Taluka has been granted permission to start Primary Section English Medium (CBSE Board).
