PORVORIM: Porvorim Police today have registered a case of rash and negligent driving in the Porvorim fatal accident case.
Tata Nexon EV carrying five individuals crashed into a roadside tree in Porvorim during the early hours of Sunday.
Three young people had lost their lives, while two others suffered severe injuries in the accident. The accident appeared to have occurred due to the driver losing control of the vehicle at a high speed.
One of the injured individuals told the police, that Fiona and Abigail, both residents of Merces, had attended a birthday celebration in Quepem but were delayed in returning. Tragically, as they reached the Teen Building bus stop, Shawn, who was behind the wheel, lost control of the vehicle, leading to the catastrophic collision with a roadside tree
Abigail D’Souza (21), a resident of Merces, Valdrofe D’Souza (30) from Badem-Assagao, and Shawn Fernandes (27) from Parra all lost their lives instantly due to the intense impact. The injured survivors, Ninoshka Fernandes (21) and Fiona D’Souza (25), both from Merces, were rushed to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) in Bambolim for treatment.
The vehicle involved in the accident sustained significant damage.
