DELHI: Pakistan is seeking to de-escalate the current heightened tensions with India and is expressing a desire for a meeting between the two sides, sources told CNN-News18. The situation within Pakistan is described as “bad,” prompting a push from Islamabad to engage with New Delhi, the sources said. Communication channels have been established with New Delhi to arrange a meeting between representatives of both nations, the sources further said.
Although there has been no official confirmation from either the Indian or Pakistani governments but sources indicated a potential shift in Pakistan’s stance, possibly acknowledging the severity of the ongoing crisis and seeking a diplomatic pathway to de-escalation.
Earlier, top intelligence sources informed CNN-News18 that India has inflicted substantial damage on Pakistan’s military infrastructure along the International Border and the Line of Control. This action was reportedly in response to Pakistan’s alleged unprovoked attack that commenced on Thursday night. According to sources, critical targets were neutralized by Indian forces while the damage incurred on the Indian side is described as minimal.
A high-ranking source stated, “India’s response to Pakistan’s attack has been 2-3 times stronger. Indian missiles have neutralized critical targets along the International Border and the Line of Control for strategic reasons. India’s losses, meanwhile, have been minimal. But we did lose an administrative services officer in Rajouri.”
The development comes as India said that it has carried out precision airstrikes on Pakistan Air Force bases in Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala and Rahim Yar Khan. Pakistan’s military installations at Sukkur and Chunia, a radar site at Pasrur and the Sialkot aviation base were also targeted.
“In a swift and calibrated response, Indian Air Force carried out precision attacks only on identified military targets. These included technical infrastructure, command and control centres, radar sites and weapon storage areas. Pakistan military targets at Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur and Chunia were engaged using air-launched precision weapons from our fighter aircraft. Radar site at Pasrur and Sialkot aviation base were also targeted using precision munitions. While carrying out these responses, India ensured minimum collateral damage,” Wing Commander Vyomika Singh said.
