PANAJI: MLA Dr Deviya Rane chaired the 121st Board Meeting of the Goa Forest Development Corporation (GFDC), where members reviewed ongoing initiatives and deliberated on projects aimed at strengthening eco-tourism, enhancing visitor experiences and improving public amenities across Goa.
The meeting was attended by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Kamal Datta, Managing Director K. Ramesh Kumar, General Manager Amar Heblekar and other members of the Board.
Among the key matters discussed was the upgradation of facilities at the Sylvan Bondla Eco-Tourism Cottages. The Board also reviewed booking trends and website management to improve accessibility and visitor engagement.
Members assessed the progress of the Children’s Park project at Selaulim and reviewed preparedness measures at various waterfall destinations ahead of the monsoon season. The discussions focused on ensuring visitor safety and providing seamless facilities for tourists visiting these nature hotspots.
The Board further deliberated on plans to open and operationalise new waterfall destinations in the upcoming season, with the objective of promoting nature-based tourism and expanding Goa’s eco-tourism offerings.
Speaking after the meeting, Dr Rane said the corporation remains committed to sustainable development and responsible eco-tourism. She emphasised the need to create enriching visitor experiences while preserving Goa’s rich natural heritage.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment towards balancing tourism growth with environmental conservation and strengthening eco-tourism infrastructure across the state.
