PANAJI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will launch a statewide campaign titled ‘Margay Mukti Yatra’ from November 26 to December 19, covering constituencies, villages and different parts of Goa to interact with people and understand their concerns.
The yatra will commence on November 26, observed as Constitution Day, and conclude on December 19, Goa Liberation Day.
During the campaign, AAP leaders and party workers will travel across the state, meet residents and provide them with an opportunity to voice their concerns, particularly regarding the rising cost of essential commodities and the increasing financial burden on households.
The party said the initiative aims to understand the difficulties faced by ordinary Goan families in managing their monthly expenses and discuss possible solutions to provide financial relief.
As part of its outreach, AAP will highlight its ‘Amchi Goenkar Guarantee’, comprising six guarantees, five of which are directly aimed at addressing inflation and reducing household expenditure.
The first guarantee is the abolition of Section 39A, which the party claims will help eliminate a significant amount of corruption.
The second guarantee promises free electricity along with a waiver of all pending electricity bills. According to AAP, an average household spends approximately ₹3,000 per month on electricity, and the proposed benefit could help families save that amount.
The third guarantee is ₹10 lakh health insurance for every eligible family, similar to the scheme implemented by the AAP government in Punjab. The party estimates that an average person spends around ₹4,000 monthly on healthcare expenses, including medicines and medical tests, and claims the insurance guarantee would provide substantial relief.
Under the fourth guarantee, every woman above the age of 18 would receive ₹3,000 per month directly into her bank account. A household with two eligible women could therefore receive ₹6,000 monthly.
The fifth guarantee promises free bus travel for women, which the party estimates could help them save approximately ₹2,000 every month.
AAP claims that the five guarantees together could help households save at least ₹15,000 per month, offering significant relief amid rising living costs.
The party said the statewide yatra would not merely focus on presenting its guarantees but would also provide a platform for people to openly discuss their everyday problems, expectations and aspirations.
AAP maintained that the upcoming election should revolve around the problems faced by ordinary people, their dreams and their aspirations, rather than merely political promises.
The ‘Margay Mukti Yatra’ is expected to serve as a statewide public outreach campaign, with the party seeking to connect directly with Goans and present its proposed measures to tackle inflation and ease the financial burden on families.
