PANAJI: All aided institutions have received a directive from the Education Department directing them to accept staff members’ applications for the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS).
Applications must be submitted between December 12, 2023, and December 14, 2024, to be considered during this acceptance period.
This action comes after the state’s government approved the extension of VRS benefits to employees at state-funded schools.
The government has confirmed a three-month extension beginning on September 14, 2024, for processing VRS requests from GIA institutions in response to a question from the Finance Department regarding the timeline for accepting VRS applications and the creation of a two-member committee for processing these applications.
A two-person committee must be established by each assisted institution to examine the VRS applications.
The head of the school managing committee and an official from the office of the deputy director of education will be on this committee.
An application that has been approved by the committee will be sent to the Deputy Director for confirmation before being sent to the Directorate of Education’s GIA section for additional action.
