VASCO: Adani Mormugao Port Terminal Private Limited (AMPTPL), through the Adani Foundation under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, distributed raincoats and helmets to over 80 motorcycle taxi pilots in Mormugao on Saturday evening.
The distribution programme was organised at the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) Guest House on the occasion of the birthday of Dr Priti Adani, Chairperson of the Adani Foundation. The initiative aimed to support motorcycle taxi pilots who remain on the roads even during challenging weather conditions and are particularly vulnerable during the monsoon.
Safety gear was distributed to members of the Mormugao Motorcycle Taxi Association in the presence of AMPTPL Head Sandeep Roy, Bhushan Talele, Dharmendra Kumar and other representatives.
Speaking on the occasion, the organisers highlighted the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of motorcycle taxi pilots, who provide an important mode of public transport for residents and visitors in the port town.
The raincoats are expected to provide protection to the pilots during heavy rainfall, while the helmets will strengthen road-safety measures and encourage responsible riding.
The initiative also reflected the Adani Foundation’s efforts to extend its CSR activities towards communities and groups associated with the local economy.
Motorcycle taxi pilots operating across Vasco and surrounding areas welcomed the initiative and expressed appreciation for the support.
Representatives of AMPTPL and the Adani Foundation said that such initiatives would continue to focus on community welfare and provide practical assistance to people working on the ground.
