MAPUSA: Anjuna Police have registered a case of cheating involving ₹1.95 crore against a Goa-based man in connection with an alleged fraudulent land transaction at Anjuna.
According to the complaint filed by Himanshu Subhash Gaba, a resident of Faridabad, Haryana, the accused, Gopaljee Anand, a resident of Casa Bonito, Assagao, Goa, and also having an address in Janakpuri, New Delhi, allegedly induced him to invest ₹1.95 crore in a proposed purchase of a 50 per cent share in a plot of land at Anjuna.
The complainant alleged that since September 2022, the accused falsely represented that he had ownership and transferable rights over the property measuring 1,028 square metres, comprising plots A, B and D of the property known as ‘Bandir Vadda’ or ‘Bandirwada’, surveyed under Survey No. 392/22 (Part) at Anjuna.
Police said the complainant alleged that despite receiving the money, the accused failed to execute the agreed transfer, concealed material facts relating to ownership and title disputes, and continued to retain the amount. The complaint further states that the accused allegedly threatened the complainant when he approached the original property owners, causing him a wrongful loss of ₹1.95 crore.
Based on the complaint, Anjuna Police registered Crime No. 69/2026 under Sections 318(4), 316(2), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
