VASCO: Vasco police inspector Kapil Nayak informed the media that there were about 15 cases of missing children in the last seven days of the Damodar Saptah fair.
“There was a three-year-old girl Alina Shaikh who had come with family but went missing in the Saptah Fair yesterday night in the huge crowd. An alert citizen found the girl and approached the outpost and in the meantime, the mother and the aunt of the baby had filed a complaint that their baby was missing. We then handed over the baby to the family after due verification,” said Nayak.
“This year there was a massive crowd for the Damodar Saptah for the last seven days and we have had around 15 cases of children below ten years going missing in the fair. Fortunately, we have a police outpost outside the Damodar temple and all these children have been reunited with their families with due verification, after we received complaints from these concerned parents with the efforts of our staff at the outpost. In the last seven days, we have reunited around 15 children with their parents during the Saptah fair this year,” said Nayak.
“Having an outpost is very important because the parents can immediately approach us in the fair in case of any such issues of children going missing or any crimes that occur during the fair. Our police staff immediately respond to the complaints and start with the efforts to resolve the issues without further delay through enquiry and patrolling. We have been having this outpost every year of the Saptah fair and we have a Police sub-inspector placed there along with ten staff members to handle these issues”.
