CALANGUTE: Three attacks in one night have sparked worries about law and order in the Calangute belt, which is popular with tourists.
Three touts were allegedly attacked by a mob of people at Umtavaddo and two other places along the Calangute-Baga road between midnight and one in the morning on November 4.
According to sources, the attackers charged the touts with illegally participating in touting. However, the touts asserted that demands for money to continue their operations have often targeted them.
According to sources, all three individuals were hurt in a series of such assaults. According to reports, Goa Medical College is treating one of them for severe injuries.
According to Calangute police, they are looking into two further assault instances, but just one FIR has been filed thus far. CCTV footage from more sites is being sought, and victim accounts are also being recorded.
In addition to the altercation between bouncers and the two young people that was reported last month, two local cab drivers attacked a Pune family on October 31. In both situations, the offenders were taken into custody by Calangute Police.
