PANAJI: Atharv Parsekar, Komal Kothari and Anvitha Poojari emerged as the star performers at the South Goa District Badminton Tournament, securing double crowns in their respective categories at the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium, Navelim.
Atharv enjoyed a dominant outing by winning both the Boys Singles Under-15 and Under-17 titles, while Komal matched the feat by clinching the Girls Singles Under-15 and Under-17 championships. Anvitha also completed an impressive double, capturing the Girls Singles Under-11 and Under-13 crowns to underline her talent across age groups.
In the Under-19 categories, Shaurya Naik and Manasvi Naik were crowned Boys Singles and Girls Singles champions respectively, adding their names to the list of standout performers at the tournament.
Organised by the South Goa District Badminton Association under the aegis of the Goa Badminton Association, the event attracted enthusiastic participation from promising young shuttlers from across the state.
In the younger age categories, Rafael De Ataide and Oorvi Khyalia emerged champions in the Boys Singles and Girls Singles Under-9 events respectively. Divyam Singh and Samaira Velip finished as runners-up in their respective categories.
Priyansh Sawant Dessai claimed the Boys Singles Under-11 title, finishing ahead of Shloke Utagi in the final. In the Girls Singles Under-13 category, Anvitha Poojari secured the title while Tirtha Shetkar finished runner-up.
Ayansh Sanke lifted the Boys Singles Under-13 crown after defeating Suven Sawant in the final, showcasing impressive skill and determination throughout the competition.
Among the notable runners-up, Sambhavi Bhardwaj delivered consistent performances to finish second in both the Girls Singles Under-17 and Under-19 categories. Samarth Sakhalkar also enjoyed a successful campaign, securing runner-up finishes in the Boys Singles Under-15 and Under-17 events. Raj Dhume finished as runner-up in the Boys Singles Under-19 category.
The tournament highlighted the depth of badminton talent emerging from Goa, with several young players producing impressive performances and gaining valuable competitive experience on the district stage.
