CANACONA: A one day training under the Western Ghat Development programme was held at Baddem in Khotigao village in association with ATMA(S).
The training program was inaugurated by Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar, in the presence of Agriculture Committee GCCI Panaji, Chairman Orlando Rodrigues and Sarpanch of Khotigao Anandu Dessai.
Khotigao Dy.Sarpanch, Panch members, Dy.Director Sandeep Fal Dessai, Dy Director Rena, Project Director Shivram Naik Gaonkar, Suprijit Raikar and Canacona ZAO Nagesh Komarpant were also present.
The main objective of the program was to create awareness among local people residing in western Ghat areas to avail benefits of Conservation measures, informed Orlando Rodrigues.
Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar briefed about the developmental projects undertaken in Agriculture sector and expressed his desire to have a Honey Park in Khotigao area and requested Goa Chamber of Commerce Directors to help in preparing project report so that funds will be made available for establishing the Honey industry.
Later-on in a symbolic gesture, Speaker joined the Beekeeping and Honeybee Production outreach program organized by the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industries in collaboration with the Directorate of Agriculture, Government of Goa wherein in a collaborative effort for sustainable practices in Baddem Khotigao, six boxes of honeybee cultivation were initiated in November month. Tawadkar was given a live presentation of Beekeeping and Honeybee production by agriculture officials.
