Team Goemkarponn PONDA: Police have registered a case against two men for allegedly carrying out illegal hill cutting in Durbhat village prior to May 15 this year. According to Ponda Police, the accused have been identified as Rameshwar Shet and Jainath Phadte, both residents of Durbhat. The case was registered following a complaint by Premanand Akarkar, Planning Draftsman with the Town and Country Planning Department, who reported the unauthorized hill cutting activity. PSI Ashish Velip of Ponda Police Station is conducting further investigation into the matter.
Team Goemkarponn VERNA: A 56-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a car at Upasnagar on June 24. According to Verna Police, the accident occurred when Nayum Shaikh, 38, of Mangor Hill, allegedly drove his Maruti Suzuki Tour in a rash and negligent manner while travelling from Vasco. Upon reaching Upasnagar, he reportedly hit pedestrian Topilal Sunal, a local resident. Police said the victim sustained grievous injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at GMC Hospital, Bambolim. A case has been registered based on a complaint by Head Constable Sudhakar Jadhav of Verna Police Station. Further investigation is underway.
Team Goemkarponn CUNCOLIM: A 36-year-old woman has been booked for allegedly driving rashly and injuring a minor cyclist at Gavthanwada, Cuncolim. According to Cuncolim Police, the incident occurred on June 11 when Andrea Margarida Dsouza of Chinchinim was driving a Hyundai i20 from Panzorconi towards Savorcotto. At the four-road junction at Gavthanwada, she reportedly lost control of the vehicle and struck a 12-year-old boy who was crossing the road on his bicycle. Team Goemkarponn AGACAIM: Police arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly accepting matka gambling bets near the SSB GMC area in Bambolim on Wednesday night. According to Agacaim Police, the accused, Alam Nadeem Shaikh, resident of Kumar Wada, Vaddy, Merces, was caught red-handed at around 8.15 pm on June 25 while accepting bets on numerical digits. Police seized ₹690 in cash, paper slips, carbon papers and a pen used in the betting activity. Team Goemkarponn Mapusa: Police arrested a 63-year-old man for allegedly running a gambling operation near Jitendra Fast Food at Corjuvem, Aldona in Bardez. According to Mapusa Police, on June 25 between 6 pm and 7 pm, ASI Ajay Gaonkar caught Mahadev Dashrath Polle, resident of Podwal, Khorjuvem, Aldona, red-handed while conducting a game of chance. Police seized ₹2,100 in cash and other gambling accessories from the accused. An offence was registered under relevant sections and the accused was formally placed under arrest the same evening.
