PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Wednesday defended NRI Commissioner and BJP leader Narendra Sawaikar amid the controversy over his social media post, asserting that it had no connection with the terms “cockroach” or “termite” allegedly used in reference to youths.
Speaking to reporters, Sawant said the post was being viewed through a political lens and was being wrongly linked to the controversy.
“The post has no connection with words like ‘cockroach’ or ‘termite’ referring to youths. Some people interpret statements according to their political views and have a habit of politicising every issue,” the Chief Minister said.
He maintained that the controversy stemmed from political interpretation rather than the actual content of Sawaikar’s post, adding that attempts were being made to give the issue a political colour.
