Dhaka: Two Bangladeshi diplomats serving at the High Commission in India have been asked to leave before the end of their contract, days after ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s diplomatic passport was revoked. KOLKATA: Days after the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday conducted searches on the premises of former principal Sandip Ghosh, ex-medical superintendent Sanjay Vashisth and 13 others, in and around the city. The searches were conducted at a total of 15 locations, in connection with the alleged financial irregularities at the institute. New Delhi: As many as seven officials at Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara jail were suspended after Kannada actor Darshan, accused in a murder case, was seen having tea and hanging out with three others on the prison premises, Karnataka Home Minister, G Parameshwara, confirmed. Darshan is currently in judicial custody in the Renukaswamy murder case. Commenting on the suspension, the Home Minister said he spoke to the Directorate General (prisons) and an investigation was launched. New Delhi: The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Sunday carried out a swift night operation and rescued 11 people from a sinking merchant vessel en route from Kolkata to Port Blair. The Coast Guard ships Sarang and Amogh, supported by a CG Dornier aircraft, navigated through challenging sea conditions to perform the rescue mission. According to the Indian Coast Guard, the merchant vessel ITT PUMA sank 90 nautical miles south of Sagar Island while on its passage from Kolkata to Port Blair. New Delhi: iPhone contract manufacturer Foxconn wants women employees in India to take up lead positions in design and other technology-related positions, a top company official has said. Foxconn has 48,000 employees across India and 25 per cent of its new hires are married women. “We see not only the assembly work for women but also some design, technology-related positions.
