QUEPEM: Avedem gram sabha has raised strong objections to the ongoing work of the distillery project, despite the opposition from the villagers.
Once again, the locals had strong opposition in the Avedem Gram Sabha for showing the area as an industrial area. Gram sabha meeting saw heated arguments over the distillery project for which part of the village area was shown as an industrial zone.
The villagers expressed displeasure and were shocked as they were unaware that part of the village was being converted into an industrial zone.
The villagers have expressed their disappointment to the Panchayat and questioned how the permission was given by all concerned govt departments as the whole village is against this project. Villagers feared that such a project would destroy the environment of the village.
During the meeting before Panchayat, the gram sabha members stated that they would fight against this project and take a delegation wherever need be.
There is a stay order by the court; despite this, the private party has continued to build the project; this was confirmed by the Sarpanch Alleluia Alphonso.
The people say they will approach the authorities and question them on the permission given for this project. The Avedem Panchayat has also called for a press conference on Tuesday on this issue.
