Goa,: Vedanta Sesa Goa-Iron Ore Goa (IOG) under the aegis of the Vedanta Foundation, inaugurated the Vedanta Tailoring Training Centre and the relocated Vedanta Computer Centre at Village Panchayat Maem to provide National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) certified courses in tailoring & computer application respectively.
The facilities were inaugurated by Shri Premendra Shet, Hon’ble MLA, Maem Constituency, in the presence of Shri Vasudev Gaonkar, Sarpanch, VP Maem, along with other VP members, Smt. Seema Sanjay Arundhekar, Shri. Smt. Suvarna Chodankar, Shri Dilip Sheth, Mr. Dhirajkumar Jagdish, Deputy CEO, IOG, Mr. Santosh Mandrekar, Head-North & Central Cluster, IOG amongst other community representatives, and Vedanta executives.
The event also witnessed the certificate distribution ceremony for the latest batch of students who successfully completed the NSDC-certified three-month Diploma in Computer Application from the Vedanta Computer Centre at Maem.
The newly established Vedanta Tailoring Training Centre will provide relevant skill training to women and enable them to take on entrepreneurial pursuits. The centre will train local women in tailoring skills through a structured three-month course combining theory and hands-on practice sessions.
The Vedanta Computer Centre, relocated from Haldanwadi to the premises of VP Maem, provides both basic and advanced computer literacy programs across multiple batches, helping local youth enhance their digital proficiency and improve their employability.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Premendra Shet, Hon’ble MLA, Maem Constituency, said, “I appreciate Vedanta Sesa Goa for its consistent efforts towards community welfare & capacity building. Establishing these centres is a progressive aimed at empowering through essential digital skills.It is evident that Vedanta feels a deep sense of responsibility for the progress and prosperity of this region, and initiatives like these demonstrate the company’s genuine commitment to inclusive growth.”

Over 1200 students have so far benefitted from the Company’s computer centres being run in Bicholim. These initiatives help contribute to sustainable community development by progressing meaningful transformation through education, skilling, and empowerment across Goa and beyond.
