PANAJI: The BJP MLAs from Tiswadi have sought the intervention of the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to the fact that the majority of the jobs advertised by Goa Medical College have gone to candidates from Valpoi and Poriem constituencies.
Panaji MLA Atanasio Monserrate, St Cruz MLA Tony Fernandes, and St Andre MLA Francisco Silveria called on Dean of GMC Dr Bandekar following a media report that 85% of candidates are candidates selected for LDC post in GMC are from Valpoi and Poriem constituency.
While the Valpoi constituency is ruled by Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, his father, Pratapsingh Rane, is Congress MLA from Poriem.
Addressing media person post-meeting, Monserrate said that GMC is not a private limited owned by Valpoi Constituency and doesn’t belong to just one person.
He said that we will take up the issue with the Chief Minister and party state leadership to intervene.
Monserrate said that the Dean has informed that no jobs are out yet so far. “All the deserving candidates should get the jobs. Since Hospital is located in Tiswadi, preference should be given to us,” he said.
The MLA also said that we will not allow injustice to deserving candidates.
A leaked government document indicated that nearly 85 per cent of candidates ‘selected’ for regular posts of Lower Division Clerks (LDCs) in the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) hail from Sattari’s Poriem and Valpoi constituencies.
The documents show recruitment panel of the GMC has finalised the list of ‘selected candidates’ for 105 regular posts of LDC. Interestingly, from this list of 105 ‘selected’ candidates, as many as 85 hail from Poriem and Valpoi assembly constituencies.
