Aam Aadmi Party while accusing the government of seeking to stifle the voice of the people said they have always stood with the villagers of Shel Melauli and will continue to do so in future notwithstanding whatever tactics the government used to harass them.
Briefing media persons AAP spokesperson Sandesh Telekar pointed out that he has been summoned to the court of the deputy collector on 28th January under the Criminal Procedure Code. “I have been asked to show cause why I should not execute a good behaviour bond,” he said.
As per the notice served on Sandesh besides executing the bond of Rs. 10,000 he has also been asked to submit a surety of like amount to ensure that he maintains good behaviour for a period of six months.
AAP leader Surel Tilve pointed out that many villagers also have got similar orders and said this was yet another means adopted by the government to harass the common people and added that the people will not get intimated by such tactics.
He pointed out that the arrogant local MLA Vishwajit Rane used to earlier assert that IIT project will come up at Melauli under any circumstances. “However faced with people’s unity he had bow down and now demand that the project be taken away from his constituency,” said Venzy pointing out that nothings stands before the people’s power.
Both Sandesh and Surel said AAP will stand by the people of Melauli even in their march to the residence of the chief minister as declared by them. “AAP has been, is and shall remain with the people of Melauli in this matter,” they chorused.
AAP pointed out that the issue was not only of IIT project but of the land rights of the people which have been denied to them despite the law being in their favour. They said they will continue the battle to transfer the land to them not only in Melauli but all over Goa where such issue remains.
