PORVORIM: Tourism and Information Technology Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Ashok Khaunte on Wednesday expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would secure a decisive victory in the 2027 Goa Assembly elections, claiming the party would win more than 30 seats in the House.
He was speaking at a function held in Porvorim where the new Yuva Committee of the BJP Porvorim Mandal was announced.
Addressing party workers and youth members, Khaunte said the BJP, being the world’s largest political party, continues to gain public support due to the development initiatives undertaken by the “double-engine government” led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in Goa.
He said BJP governments have been formed in several states across the country and claimed similar political trends are becoming visible in West Bengal. Khaunte urged young people not to be influenced by rumours on social media or what he termed misleading narratives spread by political opponents.
Calling upon the youth to support a party committed to national development and social welfare, he said young people are the country’s greatest strength and should play a leading role in promoting the BJP’s ideology and vision.
BJP Yuva Morcha State President Tushar Kelekar also addressed the gathering and spoke about organisational work, leadership development and social responsibility.
Among those present were BJP State Vice President Kunda Chodankar, Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities Guruprasad Pawaskar, Zilla Panchayat members Sandeep Salgaonkar and Amit Asnodkar, Penha de França Sarpanch Sapnil Chodankar, Socorro Sarpanch Sonia Pednekar, Porvorim Mahila Morcha President Rina Fernandes, Minority Morcha State President Dattaram Redkar, Mandal President Vineet Borkar and Secretary Ashok Shetty.
During the event, the Porvorim Youth Committee was formally announced under the leadership of Jagannath Kambli, while Tanvi Vijay Dalvi was appointed President of the Women’s Youth Wing.
The newly appointed office-bearers and committee members were felicitated by Khaunte with BJP saffron shawls. Party leaders expressed confidence that the new committee would help strengthen the BJP’s organisational network in the Porvorim constituency ahead of future elections.
