PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the party’s fight will remain with the Congress and not with the people till the next 2027 Assembly elections.
“Party’s fight will remain with the Congress and not with the people till the next Assembly elections, which will be held after three years in March 2027,” said Sawant
He further said that the BJP was able to garner 56 per cent of votes while in South Goa the party lagged behind in nine Assembly constituencies but its vote share increased to 45.26 per cent.
“No doubt we have been defeated in South Goa. We accept that. Although the defeat has been by a small margin, however, our organisational work will continue.” he added
MP and BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade stated, “We expected to register a victory in South Goa, but we had to face defeat there.” While we acknowledge our loss, it was also observed that religious leaders’ meddling prevented us from receiving certain votes. Given our mandate, it has become evident.
But in contrast to past elections, he said, the party has managed to collect over two lakh votes in the South Goa constituency.
Even though we prevailed in 2014, fewer than two lakh votes were cast. We were able to garner 1.99 lakh votes in 2019 as well,” he stated.
