PONDA: Borim Sarpanch Domingo Vaaz and Panch members addressing to press said that medis misreported Sunday Gramsabha and the stand of the Panchayat body or Sarpanch was not highlighted and only the views of people was highlighted.
He said the decision to hike taxes was proposed in earlier Gramsaba.
However, he assured the villagers to reconsider the locals’ demand to reduce the hike in House and commercial taxes in six month time.
He said on Sunday Gramsaba there was demand from villagers to reduce the hike in house and commercial taxes.
Sarpanch said there was a notification from the government to hike taxes to generate revenue for Panchayat.
Accordingly, Panchayat proposed a hike and it met opposition in gramsaba where locals asked to reconsider it claiming the hike is not affordable to them.
He said the review of the decision would be taken in six month time and during this period in case any house owners pay extra money after revising taxes it would be refunded back to them.
He also said that on ISKCON Project Panchayat has no idea. Only NOC is given for the construction of the proposed road at Bethki as per instructions of Higher authorities.
