MARGAO: A 45-year-old unidentified man was killed after allegedly being run over by a bus near the taxi stand on the Aquem side of Konkan Railway Station in Margao on Monday night.
According to Margao Town Police, the incident occurred at around 10.35 pm on July 21 when the accused bus driver, Mohammad Shaikh, a resident of Sirvodem, Navelim, allegedly started the parked bus and drove away without taking due care or ensuring that the area beneath the vehicle was clear.
Police said the bus ran over the man, who was reportedly sleeping underneath the parked vehicle. He sustained grievous injuries and succumbed while being shifted to the District Hospital, Margao.
Margao Town Police have registered a case against the driver, and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Subhash Gaonkar.
