CALANGUTE: Calangute Police have registered a case of murder and robbery after a 29-year-old man, who was allegedly assaulted at Calangute Beach last month, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment in Maharashtra.
According to the complaint lodged by Shekh Sohel, 20, a resident of Calangute and native of Aurangabad district in Maharashtra, his brother Shaikh Sameer was allegedly assaulted by Raymond Howse alias Rambo and his associates at Calangute Beach on July 18, 2026, at around 2 pm.
The complainant alleged that the accused assaulted the victim with the intention of robbing him of his mobile phone and other valuables, causing grievous injuries. Sameer was later shifted to Government Hospital, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, where he succumbed to his injuries on July 30, 2026, at around 4 am while undergoing treatment.
Based on the complaint, Calangute Police registered the offence on August 3, 2026, at 8.58 pm under relevant provisions relating to robbery and murder.
The accused have been identified as Raymond Howse alias Rambo (36), a resident of Candolim and native of Uttar Pradesh; Arjun Naik (22), a resident of Calangute and native of Karnataka; and Meharban Khan (61), a resident of Calangute and native of Uttar Pradesh.
All three accused were produced before the court and remanded to seven days’ police custody.
Further investigation is being carried out by Police Inspector Laxi Amonkar.
