CALANGUTE: In a late-night narcotics operation, Calangute Police arrested a 35-year-old man and seized over 2 kg of suspected ganja during a raid conducted on April 20.
According to police, the investigation was initiated based on a state complaint filed by PSI Paresh Sinari of Calangute Police Station. The raid was carried out between 8:46 pm and 9:45 pm at Bodkewod ground, Porbawado, Calangute.
During the search, the accused, identified as Manjay Sahni, a native of Bihar, was found in illegal possession of 2.049 kg of greenish leafy, flowering and fruiting tops suspected to be ganja, valued at approximately ₹2 lakh. The contraband was seized under a duly conducted search and seizure panchanama.
Police said the accused was taken into custody at 11:04 pm on the same day and later lodged in the police lock-up.
A case has been registered at Calangute Police Station under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Officials confirmed that all Supreme Court guidelines were followed during the operation.
