CANACONA: Canacona police have arrested a known history-sheeter from Pernem, 12 days after he went underground after a murderous attempt on two persons from Agonda.
Addressing media, SDPO Dy. Tikam Singh Verma informed that a case of attempt to murder was registered under section 109(1) of BNS 2023 on 16th August, and in that case, one history sheeter of Canacona by the name Jitendra Haliyali alia Jitu has attempted to murder his friends by attacking with a knife. Soon after the attack, a complaint was registered but the history-sheeter at that time had fled from the scene and went underground. For the last 12 days, he has been absconding.
“Our full team with technical support was trying hard to nab the accused, and finally on 28th August our Brain team was successful and he was caught by Pernem and after producing him in the court got two days police remand. The rest of the investigation is in progress and the IO is PSI Ajit Velip.
“It was a scuffle within a group of friends, where they were drunk heavily after a party, and in the scuffle, one of them had a knife and attacked the others with it. The attacking weapon is exactly not a sword, but smaller in size and just bigger than a knife was recovered and seized on the same night of the incident,” he said.
It may be recalled that after a murderous attack on two persons Badal Pagi and Kunal Pagi at Coco-Nest beach restaurant at Dhavalkhazan-Agonda, a known history sheeter Jeetendra Haliyali had gone underground and police were on the hot trail of the accused. Both victims who suffered wounds on their heads and hands were treated in GMC.
