BICHOLIM: A 65-year-old woman sustained grievous injuries after a Swift car allegedly driven in a rash and negligent manner rammed into a motorcycle at Amona Junction, Bicholim, on September 7.
According to a complaint lodged by Head Constable Prasad Gaonkar of Bicholim Police Station, the accident occurred at around 12.30 pm near Amona Junction.
Police said accused Krishna Shivram Desai (55), a resident of Manaswada, Kundem, Sankhalim, was driving a Swift car bearing registration number GA-05-B-7919 from Virdi towards Marcel when he allegedly drove in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against a Splendor motorcycle bearing registration number GA-04-J-8141 from the left side.
The motorcycle was ridden by Krishna Milan Naik (55), a resident of Dakul Maina, Navelim, Bicholim, while Sunita Suresh Naik (65), from Ambhekhandwada, Verem, Bardez, was travelling as the pillion rider.
Sunita sustained a grievous injury to her right leg. She was initially shifted to the Community Health Centre, Sankhalim, in a 108 ambulance and was subsequently referred to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, for further treatment.
She is currently undergoing treatment at GMC Bambolim.
The complaint was lodged by Head Constable Gaonkar at 6.43 pm on September 9 following an enquiry into the motor vehicle accident case registered at Bicholim Police Station in connection with the incident.
