CURCHOREM: A day after the warning by the PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral, Curchorem-Cakoda Municipality has swung into action, issuing a stern warning to illegal encroachers in the municipal area.
Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Chief Officer Manohar Karekar said the drive would be taken up every week.
“The Curchorem Cacora Municipal Council will act every week if there is any illegal encroachment by retailers and traders in the Curchorem Cacora municipal area,” said Karekar.
Curchorem Cacora Municipality recently carried outdrive was carried out a drive against illegal encroachments in the presence of the Chief Officer of Curchorem Municipality, and this drive will continue to take place every week.
The issue of illegal encroachment in the curchorem Cacora municipal area has been raging for many years, but sadly no proper decision has been taken.
Paresh Bhende, the ex chairperson of Curchorem Cacora municipality, said that action should be taken against those who are illegally encroaching on sidewalks or places at the same time, and the municipality should ensure that no one is treated unfairly while taking action.
Municipal market Inspector Dhiraj Sawant said that illegal encroachments on footpaths or other municipal premises during today’s drive will be dealt with.
He also held some local businessmen responsible for this situation in the Curchorem market area.
For those who are not following the rules and regulations, the municipality will take Strict action, Sawant added.
