PANAJI: Tribal Welfare Minister Ramesh Tawadkar has said that the Centre is expected to take a final view on the issue of political reservation for Scheduled Tribes (STs) in Goa within the next 15 days.
Speaking on the matter, Tawadkar said a delegation recently met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and urged the Centre to address the long-pending demand for political reservation for Scheduled Tribes in the state.
The delegation highlighted the need for adequate political representation for tribal communities and sought an early resolution to the issue.
According to the minister, Shah assured the delegation that he would examine the matter in consultation with the Solicitor General before arriving at a final decision.
The Union Home Minister is expected to communicate the Centre’s position to Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant after completing the legal consultation process.
