PANAJI: The central government plans to establish a training centre at the cost of Rs 200 crore to support micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Goa, Chief Minister of Goa, Dr Pramod Sawant told at an event of Niti Aayog in Panaji, according to a report by the Press Trust of India.
Speaking at Niti Aayog’s workshop on women-led development, Sawant said Goa is home to 400 registered startups. To support the MSMEs of the state, the central government plans to establish a training centre in Goa at the cost of Rs 200 crores.
“Our goal is to enhance Goa’s economic stability, generate employment, foster industrial development, contribute to the country’s GDP growth, and align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat,” the chief minister said Women play an indispensable role in fostering inclusivity and driving positive change in the nation, he said while addressing the workshop, according to the PTI’s report.

The state government’s budget for 2023-2024 announced that it will introduce the scheme this year and assign Rs 10 crore to raise credit guarantee coverage under CGTMSE up to 95 per cent.
The Goa government’s budget had also announced Rs 10 crore assigned under the Prime Minister Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises and formulated a new scheme Chief Minister’s Kaushalya Path scheme to skill, re-skill and up-skill local youth.
As of Wednesday, Goa had 38962 Udyam-registered MSMEs, of which 37546 were micro-enterprises, 1294 small enterprises and 122 medium enterprises, according to the MSME Dashboard. As of April 30 this year, Goa had 391 DPIIT-recognized startups under the Startup India initiative.
